New 'phones from Shure

Shure appears to have jumped on the Sony PSP bandwagon with the release of three "gaming" in-ear 'phones. The matt black e4g's look to be exactly the same as the e4c's I bought a few months back, but have a slightly shorter cable!

Not sure how many PSP gamers are going to spring for a $299 pair of 'phones, but there we are. They look cool and the slightly more reasonably priced e2g's do look much better than the older version.

Monkeys business

The rise of the Arctic Monkeys continues... they stormed to the top of the UK charts last week (although they were deposed this week by Westlife).

Meanwhile, back on my Internal Soundtrack, the double A-side / B-sides to their single ('Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts' and 'Chun Li's Spinning Bird Kick') are getting heavy rotation. The former is a glorious mix of Pulp-esque lyrics with an almost Cure-like poppy riff.

Also getting some airtime is the new album from Kirsty Hawkshaw. Kirsty provided the (rather posh) vocals on Opus 3's Fine Day back in the early 90's. Since then, she's worked with Hybrid (on Morning Sci-Fi's Blackout), Orbital (on both Halcyon and Lush), DJ Tiesto and many others. The new album Meta-message, is out now and includes a new remix of Fine Day, as well as Blackout and many new songs, including All I Want (produced by Hybrid's Mike Truman).

Romeo is dead

The purchase of a pair of Iridium Black Romeo 2.0's was the high-point of my recent Duty Free shopping spree (well, hardly a spree, since I only purchased the Romeo's and a very cheap headphone jack splitter from Dixon's).

I do feel a little guilty. Having lusted after these shiny new shades for the last six months, I finally bought them, blowing far too much money in the process. I love 'em to bits, don't get me wrong, but there are probably better ways to spend the cash...

Arctic Monkeys

I know I haven't posted in a while, and for that I apologise (to both of you). But it's not as if I've been inundated with emails saying how much you've missed me. Anyway, a brief post to get back on track - and I promise to try harder these coming weeks to keep this 'blog updated.
Anyway. The Arctic Monkeys. Yes, I know I'm probably the last person in the known universe to jump on this particular band-wagon, but they are rather good...
Last night these two bouncers
And one of em's alright
The other one's the scary one
His way or no way, totalatarian

Well I'm so glad they turned us all away we'll put it down to fate
[From the Ritz to the Rubble]

They've only released one single (I think), but the album's one of the most sought after items already on Amazon.co.uk.

Along with Kubb (another band that I completely failed to catch at Night & Day in Manchester) they could just be "the next big thing". Honest. And I don't mean the "addictive viking game".
